Process is part of the piece
The sketch, the handbuilding note, the glaze test, and the firing result all belong to the story of the object.
About
Press Clay Studio is a membership for potters and ceramic artists who want to keep the full life of a project together.
Ceramic work carries a lot of knowledge that can vanish if it is not captured while the piece is moving through the studio.
A finished bowl is only part of the record. There was an idea, a sketch, a clay choice, a construction decision, a drying problem, a glaze test, a kiln note, and a final reaction. Press Clay Studio is built to hold those pieces together.
The name still matters. Press suggests recording, publishing, and giving form. Clay is the material and the practice. Studio is the place where experiments become a body of work over time.
Mission
Press Clay Studio turns documentation into a useful studio habit. The goal is not to make every project perfect. The goal is to make every project easier to remember, learn from, return to, and share when it is ready.
Values
The sketch, the handbuilding note, the glaze test, and the firing result all belong to the story of the object.
A good archive helps you find what happened, compare experiments, and make better choices in the next batch.
Press Clay Studio is designed for real studio rhythms: quick notes, unfinished work, imperfect photos, and gradual refinement.
For members
Over time, small project records become a visible studio history: forms you keep returning to, surfaces you want to test again, mistakes worth remembering, and finished pieces that show where your hands have been.
